Is an efficient sequestering agent for calcium, magnesium and heavy metal which retains its effective performance at high temperatures and also in the presence of high concentrations of electrolyte and alkali.
Characteristics |
Benefits |
---|---|
Eliminates calcium and magnesium powdery precipitates or lime-soap deposits on the textile goods and prevents build-up of insoluble scale on machinery | Water absorbency, softness and winding properties of yarn are improved. |
Dyeings are brighter, whites are whiter | Reproducibility is improved by ensuring a uniform preparation and by preventing shade change with dyes sensitive to metal impurities. |
May be used at all stages of textile processing, in scouring, bleaching, dyeing, printing or finishing | Threshold effect: It exhibits a “threshold effect” to maintain clarity in super saturated solutions of CaCO3, CaSO4, BaSO4, Fe(OH)3 etc., with very small concentrations of sequestering agent. Molecules of ADILON SPIN are absorbed onto the surface of the growing nuclei during crystallization of calcium or magnesium scales, thus altering the crystal growth pattern and delaying or inhibiting scale formation. |
Soil suspending and dispersing: It is capable of suspending and dispersing the soil during scouring and bleaching and preventing its re-deposition | Hydrolysis stable: It is hydrolytically stable and is therefore much more effective than polyphosphates at elevated temperatures.Sodium hexametaphosphate and tripolyphosphate hydrolyse to orthophosphates at temperatures above 80oC and become ineffective either as sequestering agents or in the dispersion and suspension of soil. |
Deflocculation: It encourages the separation and dispersion of colloidal suspended particles and may be used with sodium silicate in peroxide bleaching liquors. It acts as an efficient peroxide stabilizing agent but also prevents the precipitation of insoluble silicates | No demetalizing of metal containing procion dyes: It has been found to have no demetalizing effects with metal containing procion dyes.Trials should be made with other dyes. |

Application:
- To sequester calcium and magnesium impurities in a cotton knitted fabric and improve bleach whiteness: A customer was experiencing difficulty in producing a consistent white. An unscoured 100% cotton knitted fabric was boiled in distilled water, the water was cooled and tested for hardness. A hardness equivalent to 300 ppm CaCo3 had developed. An addition of 0.5 ADILON SPIN was made to the normal bleaching recipe which gave a marked improvement in whiteness and reproducibility.
- To sequester calcium and magnesium impurities in hard water and in a cotton knitted fabric and eliminate precipitation problems experienced in dyeing: A fully prepared peroxide bleached fabric was found to still contain a high concentration of calcium impurities. A history of dyestuff precipitation problems had been experienced. An addition of 0.5 g/l to the procion reactive dye bath eliminated problems of white precipitate on the fabric and lime soaps forming with addition of detergents.
- In the new select process for polyester cellulose: Under conditions where calcium and magnesium occur, either in the water supply, in the substrate, or in the Glauber’s salt, ADILON SPIN high temperature sequestering agents, is recommended at 0.5 g/l. If metal impurities are known to be present in the fibre, 0.5 g/l ADILON SPIN is additionally recommended in the scour or scour bleach stage.
- ADILON SPIN in dyeing:
- General: Metal ions can interact with dye molecules to form insoluble salts causing increased agglomeration or precipitation. In extreme cases lower colour yields, unlevel dyeings, spots and stains, poor rubbing fastness or change in shade may result.
- Reactive dyes: High levels of calcium and magnesium, whether originating in the water supply, the salt used in dyeing, or in the cotton itself, may cause precipitation of certain dyes. This may lead to:
- Reduction in dye yield and loss of reproducibility
- Unlevel dyeing especially in yarn dyeing where the tightly wound dye packages act as a filter
- Reduction in fastness properties
- Loss of “Right first time” production
- Vat dyes: The leuco form of vat dyes will form insoluble salts with heavy metal ions.
- Sulphur dyes: Heavy metal ions result in uneven surface oxidation and hence bronzing and poor rub fastness of sulphur dyes.
- Disperse dyes: Heavy metal ions, especially copper and irons ions, may have an adverse effect on disperse dyes. Dyes that are susceptible to heavy metals form blue-violet metal dye complexes in the dye bath in the presence of iron or copper ions. This may results in a shade change towards blue or formation of dark blue to violet spots on the textile material. One of the most important properties of ADILON SPIN is its resistance to hydrolysis, even under extreme temperature and pH conditions. This feature is particularly important in comparison to both the amino carboxylates and the polyphosphates, which hydrolase very easily and thereby lose effectiveness.
Examples of typical applications:
- 1 g/l ADILON SPIN will complex, for example with
- up to 265 mg/Fe3+
- up to 200 mg/Ms2+
- These complexes remain in solution even in the presence of precipitating agents 5. In general, the sequestering power of ADILON SPIN increases with increasing pH and increasing temperature.
FAQS
Cutting-Edge Fashion & Textile Solutions
ADILON SPIN exhibits a “threshold effect” that prevents the formation of calcium and magnesium scales by altering the crystal growth pattern. This keeps textile machinery free from insoluble scale build up, ensuring smooth operations.
ADILON SPIN retains its sequestering power even at elevated temperatures, unlike traditional polyphosphates that lose effectiveness. Its stability under extreme conditions ensures consistent results in scouring, bleaching, and dyeing processes.
Yes, ADILON SPIN improves fabric softness, water absorbency, and whiteness by effectively eliminating metal impurities. It also enhances dyeing reproducibility and prevents color yield loss, making it essential for high-quality textile production.
Absolutely! ADILON SPIN is effective with a wide range of dyes, including reactive, vat, and sulphur dyes. It prevents issues like dye precipitation, unlevel dyeing, and shade changes, ensuring optimal dyeing outcomes across different textile applications.
ADILON FDA is Low foaming wetting cum Deaerating agent for continuous Dyeing as well as exhaust application, particularly for dyeing of yarn packages. Due to its Excellent wetting action, proper wetting takes place in short time particularly in continuous dyeing which results in a uniform shade. In exhaust application, it helps to remove entrapped air thus leading to thorough wetting before addition of any other chemical. It can also be added in de-sizing by pad batch application to improve pick-up. It is stable in a high concentration of caustic.
